A Parrot - A Perpetual Two Year Old!!!
Yes, owning a parrot.......and a Sun Conure particularly......is like having a two year old child having a tantrum around forever!!! Demanding, noisy and messy I often wonder how did I end up with this thing!!!
Simple.......he (or she, we don't know) was given to me, temporarily ???, while my youngest daughter relocated to a new apartment. Two years later......he's mine!!! Daughter acquired him, his cage and boxes of toys and food, from a veterinarian. My daughter worked at the clinic and the parrot became attached to her ......plus, the owner was getting married. Once in my home..... his attachment to my daughter disappeared. This dude becomes bonded to one person......and that is it!!!
Dear little "Ruh-Roh" - what kind of a name is that??? - is 4 years old - has had three owners. I am the longest running! Sun Conures can live into their 20's!!! They are noisy and demanding.......but, also loving and sweet. Not much fun for visitors since he is so attached to me.....he'll bite anyone who comes near. Ruh-Roh LOVES to go for a ride on the gator, eat yogurt, hang out in the barn and snuggle on my shoulder to sleep.
Meet "The Goat Girls"
Goat Girls.......Tinkerbell (2 years old) standing on the table and Lacy (4 years old). Tinkerbell is an Alpine......Lacy is a Toggenberg. Update: fall 2010 My darling goat girls are now living on the farm where I purchased them from.....both lactating and part of a dairy herd. The family was thrilled to welcome them back to their farm.
